Maya Mayhem

For several weeks now Maya says "I'm a baby." And usually I respond with something good about being big and she is a big girl again. Today Maya sat in the bumbo and said she was a baby. I was doing dishes at the kitchen sink so I could not see her. I said 'oh good, I will feed you baby food peas for breakfast!' All of a sudden I heard her feet running out of the kitchen and she shouted back 'I'm big, I'm out!'

Today while watching Winne the Pooh, Maya commented on Tigger bouncing. I said, 'can you bounce?' Maya replied, 'No I don't have a tail like Tigger.' I said something about Tigger also using his feet and she could bounce on her feet. She then said 'No, I don't have stripes' very matter of fact like.

Quinn is 4 weeks old today. I thought time went fast with Maya. I use to think I was busy when I was a Mom to one child. Time please slow down, life is to fast right now. I will post pictures soon.

Random thoughts

Quinn has been here 3 weeks now with us. While I love her to pieces I do not want anymore babies. Last night she was fussy from 9pm to 1am.... it was a long night. I should mention that this was the 2nd night of fussing. I am just very tired.

Maya seems to be adjusting fairly well to Quinn. She does not like the crying but other than that she is very sweet to Quinn. She holds her every day and brings her toys.

I have lots of names for Maya... sweetums, babe, pumpkin, sweetie pie and love bug. Babe came about a few months ago when I decided to stop calling her my baby... because of the baby on the way. The other day I called her 'babe.' She looked right at me and said 'I am not babe, I am sweetie pie.'

This morning we were watching Ratatouille. Maya got excited at the part where the rats have a little party. I asked her if this was a favorite part of the movie and she said 'stop talking.'

Today Maya was on the swing and her hair bow was falling out. She was holding it to her head and singing 'Don't fly away bow! Don't fly away bow!' So I said it back to her and she replied 'Hey that is my line!'

Last night after my shower I sat down on the bed. I must have been a little wet because I left a spot on the sheets. Maya saw the wet spot. She came to me and said 'you peed the bed!!' then went on and said 'accidents happen, next time use the potty.'

This week my took her little sensory ball with rubber hair to bed and called it her pet. She tucked it in. I asked her what the pet's name was and she said 'pet.' The next day she carried it by the hair and announced she was taking it for a walk.

I enjoy reading almost all of Maya's books and if I don't enjoy the book I usually 'hide' it or get rid of it.

I recently signed Maya up for the summer reading program at our library. My goal is to read 100 new books this summer to her. I love the library, seriously in the last year if I tried to buy all of the books we have read I would have spent over a thousand dollars. We already have a great start, here are a few of our favs from the library right now:

Maya Mayhem

Last night we where shopping for a new piece of furniture. I was getting sleepy. Maya asked 'Mama you sleepy?' I said yes. I asked if she was sleepy. Maya said 'No!' Then she made her eyes bug out as big as she could and said 'See I not sleepy!' T and I both laughed!

I can not remember if I have blogged this... Recently when we go places Maya gets excited to get out of her car seat. After we stop she shouts 'I stuck, I stuck, I stuck!' Then she starts to kick the car door and shout 'Let me out! Let me out!' I'm sure if any body is walking buy they think we torture our kid by leaving her in her seat.

Just a little update.

I am finally feeling better. I was sick with sinus stuff. It really made me feel run down. Now I am better. I was sick for nearly 2 weeks.

We have had a bit of a potty training set back. When I was sick I did not encourage it and now she really does not want to try. Oh well... just keep trying.

Last week I took a bath with Maya at her request. Being so very pregnant I am not sure how I got in or out of the tub. It was a nice bath and I really enjoyed the time with her and I think she really liked the attention.

We planted herbs and veggies this weekend. Hopefully I can make them grow.

Maya Mayhem...

This evening Maya was outside playing. She discovered Rolly Pollys. At first they freaked her out a little as all bugs do right now. After we assured her they were harmless she was very into them. The best part... she calls them Moley Moleys, like Mole with a y ending. When looking for them she would say 'Where are you Moley Moley' over and over. When it was time to head in for her bath she said 'Night Night Moley Moleys'.

Maya is into Pirates. When you ask her, what do pirates say, she will say 'Arrr Matey.' We have a book from the library that she loves right now called, Do Pirates Take Baths? From the book Maya now says, 'Walk the plank' and 'Shiver me tenders.' Yes tenders instead of timbers :)

Maya Mayhem!

We have had several successes the last few days with potty training. So far we let her lead the way... if she wants a pull up on I let her or if she wants a bare bum she has it. So far only one accident, keeping in mind she is still using her 'pink pull-ups'--she loves the pink ones :) part of the day. Saturday she pooped in the potty chair! I think we are well on our way!!

She likes spaghetti noodles, before they are cooked. Not to eat just to play with.
So today this was our conversation:

Maya: I need sghetti
Me: Okay
Maya: I need free (three)
Me: Let's count, one, two, three
Maya: oooohh, thank you mama
about 30 seconds later
Maya: I broke them!
Me: That is okay, no biggie
Maya: No biggie! I get more, free more!

...anyway we went like this for 2 more times, now there is spaghetti all over my floor.

I painted Maya's toe nails pink today for the first time, she loved it! And I love it :)

Maya did it!!!

She peed in the potty for the first time tonight! We have been casually working on this for several weeks but this is the first time to actually pee in the potty!!!

Eggcellent fun!

Maya and I have now colored 2 and a half dozen eggs for Easter. She loved it! The first time we used Dudley Egg Spinner from Wal-Mart for $5. It was fun. Easy for Maya to spin, but a little more work for me. Today we used the PAAS original egg coloring kit. She loved it! Had a blast. Putting the eggs in the dye and turning them over with the little wand...or her fingers! It was a little messy but worth it. Now I think I will buy another kit and more eggs for this weekend!

When I was a kid I loved coloring eggs. For next year I need to remember to buy several kits and at least 3-4 dozen eggs!

Maya Mayhem

On Tuesdays Maya goes to school, actually Parents Day Out but we call it school. Recently she has had a terrible bout of separation anxiety so she does not want to go to school. Yesterday I had been prepping her to leave for school...talking about her having fun with her friends. She got her blanket and said 'I not go school, I tired, I take nap.'

Today, I bent over and she said 'Mooooo.'

This week we got out her tents and tunnels. She wanted me to get down on the floor and crawl through the tunnel. Not going to happen right now as I look 8 months pg. So I told her I could not fit because of the baby in my belly. She came over to me, lifted my shirt and tried to open my belly button looking for the baby. If only it was that easy!

She does listen to me, now I need to listen to me!

Recently Maya has been pulling on my shirt. She does it to get my attention but also in fun. When she is playing with me she practically hangs from the back of my shirt. I have been telling not to do that because she is stretching my shirts. Also when she does this she almost pulls me down to the floor. Yesterday I was trying to comb her hair to leave the house. She was goofing around and started to run from me. I reached to grab her and ended up grabbing her shirt and pulling her back with her shirt. She got so mad at me. She yelled "MY SHIRT! MY SHIRT! MY SHIRT!" She hit her hip where I had grabbed her shirt. She was right, I was pulling her shirt. It shocked me. Now I just need her to stand still to brush her hair and teeth....

Popcorn and Movie night

Maya loves popcorn. She would eat it daily if I let her. I did not really like her eating the microwave stuff, even though I was buying the 'natural' one. Then I spotted an air popper at Target. It was $14, and I was sold. I bought the air popper and some popping corn and made popcorn on our next movie night. Maya LOVED it! She got so excited to see it pop. Now we have a little popcorn chant and Maya dances on the chair watching the popcorn. We have movie night every week and it is fun for the whole family, looking forward to Pinocchio this weekend!

A while back Maya was watching 'Little Einsteins' and they were looking for a big ship. All of a sudden I hear her shout "Where's the big shit, where's the big shit!"

Maya calls Cheerios, "yeerios" and I think it is too cute.

Last week she told me "Pretty dress mommy, you look pretty." I never want to forget that feeling when she said that, I felt so pretty. :)

From 2 to 12, the other day Maya yelled "Mom! Come here now!" Where did my baby go? Luckily she only said Mom, once. After that I was Mommy again.

Bead for Life

Over the past year I have changed how I shop for gifts. I want gifts that are meaningful to the receiver. But I also want gifts that make a difference. A gift that improves the life of the maker. Or a gift that can be recycled, gifts that won't just be disposed. Bead for Life falls into the 'improves the life of the maker' category. I am in love with the concept and the beads. Basically in 2004 the founders connected women in deep poverty who make paper beads with a market for them. This has dramatically changed the life for these bead makers. The bead makers live in Uganda. Many of the bead makers were homeless before bead for life. They worked, they just did not have a place to live. Some lived under trees, and when it rained they would run for shelter with their children. Now with Bead for Life they are building their own homes. http://www.beadforlife.org/index.html

So recently she has taken to wearing her swimsuit around the house. It is still very winter here. At first she called it her 'space suit', I did correct her and now she says swimsuit, but I wish I would not have corrected her. Space suit made me laugh.

Maya has quoted her first movie. She loves loves loves the movie Cars. She says 'I'm not a Mack, I Peterbilt' and I love it :)

A couple of weeks ago I said 'oopsiedasiey' to Maya. I don't even know why I said it. Shortly after that she said 'oopsiegoofy' and 'oopsiemickey.'

Just as I thought...

I was afraid I would not keep up with this blog. I will try a little harder. I do want to keep track of the funny things that Maya does or says.
