Maya Mayhem

Last week I got a humidifier for Quinn's room. When I was setting it up, Maya was very interested and wanted one in her room. I told her I would have to get a new filter for the other one that we have and I would put it in her room. Later she was telling Thiele that she really wanted a 'human-on-fire' for her room. Thiele was rather alarmed and had to get me to clarify. So as the week has gone on Maya has asked about the 'huminfire.' So finally today I was putting the filter in her humidifier and she was trying to say the word. Then she got it right, humidifier. I said, 'Yay Maya that is a hard word' she said 'Yeah if would be easier if we called it Pat!' This kid cracks us up all the time.



On her school field trip last week her teacher told me: "Last week Maya told us that when her daddy goes to work in his office he likes to call it his 'man cave' we thought that was so funny!"

Maya: Mommy that's a pyramid. (looking at an odd shaped building)
Me: Yes, sweetie that is the shape of a pyramid.
Maya: They have pyramids in South America?
Me: Umm, yeah I think so. (Great she is already smarter than me.)
How do you know about South America?
Maya: Dora.
Me: We need to get a map at home so we can look at different places like South America.
Maya: We can use Google Maps!!!!

Today Maya has a friend over playing for a few hours. They are at the kitchen table coloring Halloween pictures with markers. This is the conversation I just heard:
Addy: Sometimes we have soft markers.
Maya: I don't like soft markers, I like the hard markers. That is what we buy because I am a drawing expert.

Just for the record I have no idea what soft markers are.

Summer fun, went to fast.

Wow! We have had a great summer. I can't believe it is October and I am posting about our summer. This summer we picked strawberries at a you-pick organic farm. Now I know why they are so expensive in the store, picking is hard work. The girls and I took a short trip to Southeast Kansas. We spent one night with my aunt, where Maya got to see fireflies for the first time. At home we are usually getting ready for bed before they come out. The other 2 nights we spent in Chanute visiting family and friends. We had a fun afternoon at Maria's house playing :) We spent the rest of the summer swimming, visiting the zoo, going to Worlds of Fun, and DeAnna Rose Farmstead. We finished the summer with a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. We loaded up with my cousin and her 3 kids and headed for the lake. Five kids and two ladies we were a spectacle at McDonalds on the way for dinner. All things considered we did great on the drive. The kids had fun, Maya and Quinn enjoyed their first boat rides. Maya also got to ride the waverunner with Daddy. My next post will include some pictures and cover Maya's 4th Birthday party!

Quinn is almost One!

On May 22, Quinn took her first steps. I missed them but Daddy got to see them. Now she walks everywhere. She can climb on to the couch and the little chairs (for the kids table). She is happy all the time, unless she is getting a diaper or clothing change! She loves Maya, and tries to do everything that Maya does. I don't think that Quinn knows she is about to turn one, I am fairly sure that she thinks she is 3. When she was 6 months she got her first 2 teeth while we were on the family trip. June 14th, I noticed that she got her 3rd tooth. In the last couple of weeks she has had 3 more pop through for a total of 6 teeth. Quinn is able to eat everything, she has been on table food for a few weeks now. If we are eating it then she wants to try it. From steak to pizza. The other night she ate chicken and lentils. Her favorite foods are fruits, especially blueberries, and mac-n-cheese. The other day Quinn used the 'more' sign to get some more food for the first time. Every night when I am taking Quinn to bed I tell her "say night night to.... Maya or Daddy." Couple of days ago on her way to bed after I prompted her Quinn said "ni-ni." Quinn likes to play games with us, she will tease us with a piece of food and then stick it in her mouth and start laughing. She will also tease us with toys. She is such a wonderful part of our life.

Busy summer...

We are having a busy and fun summer. Quinn has 6 teeth and is fully walking and starting to climb! Maya got a big bike, mastered water slides, loves amusment park rides and quickly learning all her letter sounds. I will update more throughly soon and post some pics :)
